I first came here in 2013 as a visiting teacher from another independent school. Immediately struck by the warmth and sense of belonging the school fostered I wanted to one day be part of what I immediately knew was a unique school. As I said, once you get here you never want to leave. Since this realisation, almost a decade of experience has been earned and it feels like the perfect time to be guiding Redhill on the next stage of its journey.

For me, leading an independent school means you do everything in your power to remove barriers to learning and foster the best environment for inspirational teaching. There must be a culture of innovation and passion to achieve excellence without any fear of failure. Small classes should be preserved so talented teachers can swiftly identify and nurture children’s natural abilities and aptitudes. There must also be respect for long-established wisdom which shines through in our application of the Montessori philosophy.  

The golden thread that runs through our school is happiness and joy. Children are happy to learn, happy to explore, happy to be truly individual, happy to enter the unknown and experience a challenge. They revel in our outdoor environment and feel a sense of oneness with nature. They do the deep work required to gain important academic knowledge and skills. There is an ethos of kindness, empathy and honesty with avenues for children to build confidence to express their beliefs confidently and with respect.
